This is how I setup all my nitros with the Align Gov or AR7100r using the DX7 radio. This will also include programming for a Throttle Cut as well. Now keep in mind some of the exact values will differ depending what heli you’re putting it on, gear ratio, etc. but the general principals are the same. And yes, this time I’m going to save this so I don’t have to write it again Please read through this carefully!!!!
First thing is first…. wiring is setup so your Gov is on the Gear channel on your receiver. Gyro is controlled with the Aux2 channel.
1. Radio in the main model menu [Input Select]
Aux2 Gear
Aux2 Gear
2. Gear ATV H = 85% A(This is the value you will change for Idle1 headpseed)
ATV L = 100
3. Make sure you’re in Norm flight mode. Throttle hold switch is off.
[PROG MIX1]
GEAR-> GEAR ON
RATE: -100% B(This will turn the gov off in normal mode)
0%
SW:FR-NR
OFFSET: 0
4. Put your Gear switch DOWN. This will set your throttle cut.
[PROG MIX2]
GEAR-> THRO ON
RATE: 0%
24% C(This value is adjusted to achieve throttle barrel fully closed. Can be negative if needed
SW: GEAR
OFFSET: 0
5. Put your Gear switch back up. Flip into Idle2. Throttle hold off.
[PROG MIX3]
GEAR-> GEAR ON
RATE: +4% D(This is your Idle2 Headspeed percentage that is ADDED to the GearATV percentage)
0%
SW: F-S2
OFFSET: 0
In recap, here’s the values you’ll be changing to fit your heli. Remember… all headspeeds are based on the Idle1 headspeed that’s adjusted with the GearATV. That’s why it’s critical to set that one first then go from there. If at any point you change your Idle1 headspeed you’ll need to change the PMIX1 and PMIX3 percentages accordingly.
A = Idle 1 Headspeed. See the charts in the respective governors manuals for approximate percentages to get you started.
B = -100% turns the gov off. If you want the gov enabled then use a -5% (for example) to lower the headspeed from the Idle1 value. I use this as a safety feature allowing me to switch into normal mode at any time I’m having governor issues and land safely.
C = Closed throttle value. Number can be positive or negative depending on how your throttle channel is setup. Also, this will only work with throttle hold OFF and in Norm flight mode. Take some time to get used to how it works.
D = Idle2 Headspeed. This is the ADDED percentage to the GearATV. For example if Idle1 gives you 2100rpm at 93% on your GearATV then shoot for a value of +3% in PMIX3 to get around 2200rpm in Idle2
