So, it’s already half-way through January 2013 and I’ve got to ask myself…what’s been goin’ on that’s made it go so fast? Well, there’s always SOMETHING going on here at the Nation to make the time pass crazy fast. A look back at the past few weeks gives me a clue of why I haven’t focused too much on passing the time…
For starters, we released the new forum. Wow! I can’t express how excited I was and continue to be about this forum and its future…I know we’ve had some issues and thankfully, you guys have been willing to bring them up to us in a level-headed, constructive fashion rather than just complaining and moving on. The amount of support we’ve seen is tremendous, so thank you all.
We put together a great moderator team so far with Michael-HeliYaw, Steve Graham, and Deater and of course the four of us hosts are spending quite a lot of time on the forums as well… Dan’s said it before in the last few episodes, but seriously I look forward to checking the forums throughout the day to see what new posts pop up! In just the last five days, we’ve seen an increase in the number of posts from 1000 to almost 1600! That’s over 100 new posts per day! 😀 Wow, what a response…
Dan and I continue to work our way through the coding in the forum system to fix all the little bugs and issues that people find for us, but as we’ve said before, we’re amateurs at this, so I find myself spending more time lately learning HTML coding than anything else when I have a spare few minutes in front of the compy. Slowly but surely it’s coming along and we see that in the form of small improvements here and there, but we wouldn’t be anywhere without the help of listeners like Larry and Jay, who have fixed some of the real hardcore stuff. Thanks, guys!
What else have I been up to? Oh yeah…Nick and I recorded Diggin’ In Episode #3. I know you guys have been waiting for a long time for this one and all I can say is that we apologize for the wait, but I think that it’ll be worth it. We’re trying to keep things fresh and new in Diggin’ In so that you guys don’t feel like it’s the same old teaching style that’s boring and monotone. We look at each topic carefully and plan out the best way to get the concepts across to our listeners, so each one will be tailored to the focus of that particular show. We’ve already started planning for #4 and hopefully we’ll find some time here in the next couple of weeks to get it recorded and out to you guys…
Finally, I’ve been flying! WHAT?! “NO-FLY” IS FLYING?! Yep, I sure am… 😉 Well, we’ve gotten a few days of decent weather where there was no rain and the sun was out most of the time, so I had to take advantage of it. Flying in 20F is not my first choice, but any flying is better than no flying. Plus, I need to finish up the Whippy-G break-in so that I can get some actual flights on the MKS servos to finish up this review. I know it’s been dragging on, but it’s been the weather’s fault. That said, they’re doing great so far and haven’t even flinched at the standard fuel heli break-in environment. Definitely a good sign…
All this stuff combined with work and my family and I’m running low on time to sleep. Oh well…it’s optional beyond 4 hours, right? The candle has been burning like this since I started college back in 1999, so why stop now? 😉
